Sepex to series

This is a big interpoled sep-ex GE motor that was sent in to be redone as a series wound motor, due to the controller failing with no viable option to fix/replace it.

It's kind of a shame as the motor it'self was in good shape and you can see that the armature is in great shape.

I ended up having some salvage coils I was able to use where it ended up saving the guy from a much larger invoice 8^)

By stacking two coils together I made a new set all but made to order for this motor 8^) For those who don't know what a sep-ex or series look like. The series is the thick one being made and the sep-ex is the fine wire coil still attached to the motor.

I thought I'd grabbed more pic's but didn't, but here's the coils wrapped once they were nomex lined and connected as a single coil.

He decided to paint it to match GE's basic color as she'll be just an old workhorse 8^)

A shot of the coils once installed. I got over-spray on them when I painted it 8^o so they look a little dusty 8^)

Besides the motor upgrade, the conversion is getting a new Zilla controller upgrade as well, so I got a last minute request to add a sensor mount for it.

Here's the CE plate. I forgot to grab finished pics so hopefully Barry, will get me some pics when she arrives home 8^) I also wanted to give a shout out to Jeff Majors for putting his thoughts on the coil choice for a second opinion on this motor 8^)
