1911 Hupp-Yeats electric horseless carrage

This is a 1910 Westinghouse motor for Myles Tweet's newest resoration project. This is a super fun project for me, as it's a little slice of history. Myles knows of just one other still around and it's in a muesium in Canada. We're kind of lucky on that score as the motor for this one was hacked up a tad with it's brush gear completely missing and most of the lead wires cut detached. Myles was able to get some nice pics so we could use them to help fab new ones.

The motor's got a funky front bearing assy (at least to me as it was the first I've seen on a motor). After damn near a 100 years of being attached it was quite fun to get off, and yes I'm being sarcastic 8^)

Look at the sad thing, it's guts all hanging out, about made me cry and I found myself wishing EVil thought's toward the motor hack that butchered this poor motor.

Close up of steel core of the commutator. The armature was dark (mostly due to some gummy black wrap they used back then) so I Glytal coated it and banded some areas I thought could use a little extra hold down.

The area behind the riser had very little banding so I added some there. The mica edge where it comes from under the comm bars had none. In as much as the dip would have locked it down, I wanted a little protection here.
