Pimping Richards Ride

Right about the time I started posting pics, Richard Rau sent me in his new Warp9 to throw a little love on it.  Most of this was going to be cosmetic in nature, but I found a couple of issues along the way there.  being that Richard has been in no hurry this has been a back burner project that I’ve worked on in small spurts.  Well all those little spurts came together today when the paint guy called me over and unvieled the finished housing.  Now when Richard heard that Jay Donnaway had me powdercoat his Gamera9 motor “Zilla Green” he also wanted his motor to match his controller (see what you started Jay??)  Well thanks to Jay’s “Jack incident” which created a nice hard to repair rasberry scrap, at least it’s on the bottom and won’t get seen.  Anyway back to the drawing board…

Well about this time a painter moved in on the end unit and I went over and showed him a housing.  Long story short is this housing came out really, really, sweet.  Now Richard said he’d cut loose with some of his extra paint so Jay can do a touch-up on his Freddy Cruger gash.  Now the powdercoat is not a standard paint so I had them match it to Jays side plate I had so it’s as good a match as to be had.  I mention this as it really symblizes what I dig about the people I’ve met this last year, and that’s the willingness to help their fellow EV’er.  The other thing I truely love is being able to take a motor and pimp it up so when you open the hood to razzle them with the fact it’s electric you dazzle them with something that looks the part.  Now I’ve only hung with the EV crowd for a year at most but what I’ve noticed is how many eye-balls get to a looking at the insides of an EV.  So for those out there wanting to strut their stuff I take great pleasure in co-creating the motor they invision.  I’d like to take this time to thank Richard for allowing me my first look at a Warp9 and the prevlage to work on his. This new group of pics has before, during, and after pics as I machined the end plates.  Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I did taking them. Without furthur delay here’s my rap up to the Warp 101 album and the introduction to Richards new motor which he has named the Hummer, which in fact she is!
