A Phoenix from the ashes

For those who haven’t heard about Jeff Shanab’s Warp9 exploded comm, well it was a dosie. The exploding force was so hard on the brush ring that it sheared the four 1/4 X 20 screws that held it down to the plate clean off. It smeared the coil windings down through about a 1/4 of the total turns. There had been talk about a Siamese9 but time became a restaint. There had been talk about using a steel comm, but again became mute to the needs of a timely and affordable motor. As a best option plan I suggested to Jeff we use an ADC9 armature with his shaft and install an ADC brush set and brush ring. I believe this will be a unit that will save him some money and be something he’ll be happy with and show that even in ashes a Phoenix can be born. I created an album in Ouch for his motor pic series so have a look at Jeff’s Warp Speed. so far I have the field coil repair series there. I’ll be posting the armature, and brush ring pics soon.
